Overview

Clients across a wide range of industries understand that the fast-changing landscape surrounding artificial intelligence requires them to consider the legal and regulatory implications of the use, development, and deployment of AI, including generative AI, in their business operations around the world.

Our AI practice group is global, cross-disciplinary, and includes counseling, regulatory engagement and defense, and litigation. Our team includes attorneys who are well versed in the IP implications of AI-related litigation, former in-house attorneys with deep connections to the technology industry, and former prosecutors who understand the government’s approach to new technologies.

As regulators and the courts have intensified their focus on the implications of AI, clients utilizing AI will need to prepare for regulatory inquiries and enforcement matters and litigation concerning its use. We have a dedicated team closely monitoring developments and rulemaking in the space and we have the ability to work with clients to ensure that new technologies are incorporated into their product development and their day-to-day operations in a way that minimizes business and reputational risk. Additionally, we filed one of the first lawsuits relating to the use of generative AI, involving the “resurrection” of comedian George Carlin.

Our AI-related services include:

  • Regulatory Enforcement & Exams. Individuals and organizations may be implicated in regulatory enforcement matters and routine exams concerning the use of AI and disclosures about AI.
  • Litigation. Litigation concerning the use of AI and its impact on intellectual property rights is already on the rise. We have the experience and skills to represent both plaintiffs and defendants in this area.
  • Risk Assessments & Regulatory Compliance. Understanding existing and proposed rules, regulations, and guidance concerning the use, development, and implementation of AI is essential for any business developing or utilizing this technology. We continue to monitor regulatory developments to advise clients on risk management, regulatory compliance, and product development.
  • AI Governance. Policies and procedures relating to the use, development, and deployment of AI are quickly becoming a critical component of good governance.
