Amy specializes in complex commercial litigation, civil appeals, and media law. She has expertise in all stages of litigation, from initial investigations through trial and appeals. During her 20 years in private practice, she has successfully litigated antitrust, class action, Administrative Procedure Act, contractual disputes, and other high-stakes commercial disputes, as well as defamation and other media-related matters. 

Since joining the firm in 2006, Amy has litigated successful outcomes in numerous high-stakes matters for such clients as Barclays, Starr International Co., Wachovia, Lloyd’s of London and former AIG Chairman Maurice “Hank” Greenberg. Amy’s sound judgment and clarity of thought in formulating strategy, conducting discovery, motion practice and preparation for trial instill confidence in those she represents and drives success in her matters. 

Amy is also active in community affairs and bar activities, serving as co-chair of the Board of Washington D.C.’s Neighborhood Legal Services Program and as co-chair of the D.C. Bar Association’s Innovations in Legal Practice Committee. 

Before entering private practice, Amy served as a law clerk to Hon. John Minor Wisdom of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. 

Among the numerous significant litigation matters that Amy has litigated are:

  • Defense of the former CEO of AIG in connection with accounting fraud allegations by private and government entities
  • Defense of Barclays against claims that it improperly benefited from its acquisition of a U.S. investment bank during the 2008 financial crisis
  • Representation of a cybersecurity company in connection with potential litigation arising from failed sale of its information management division
  • Representation of Lloyds of London syndicates in RICO litigation arising from Hurricane Katrina related insurance claims
  • Leading a team of attorneys in investigation and development of U.K. litigation strategy for a major media company
  • Defense of Starr International Co. in litigation by AIG alleging that the private insurance company’s $4.3 billion in AIG shares was held in trust for AIG executives and was illegally converted by the defendant
  • Representation of Wachovia in the midst of the 2008 financial crisis to navigate state and federal litigation arising from rejection of one merger proposal in favor of another, more favorable merger
  • Defense of the non-governmental organizations, the International Crisis Group and United Against Nuclear Iran, in connection with defamation claims by individuals reported on by those organizations
  • Defense of agricultural products manufacturer regarding allegations of a fraudulent spin-off of its related chemical businesses
