Boies Schiller Flexner announced today that it has elected five attorneys to the partnership, effective January 1, 2025. The attorneys are Valecia Battle and Sabina Mariella in the New York City office, Jason Hilborn and Eric Palmer in Fort Lauderdale, and Jacopo Mosca in Milan.
“They are all incredibly capable advocates – across jurisdictions and matter types,” said Chairman-elect and Managing Partner Matthew L. Schwartz. “Our new partners have the trust and confidence of the clients with whom they work, and they hold themselves to a standard of excellence that helps keep the firm positioned at the top of a highly competitive market. We celebrate the achievements of Valecia, Sabina, Jason, Eric, and Jacopo and welcome them to the partnership.”
Valecia Battle represents plaintiffs and defendants in matters including white collar, securities, and complex commercial claims. She has advised companies facing investigations by government agencies and led complex First Amendment litigation in state trial and appellate courts. Valecia has significant trial experience and is currently managing a $700 million commercial dispute in the Southern District of Texas. She has devoted considerable time to defending indigent clients, including under the Criminal Justice Act. In 2023, Valecia was awarded the inaugural Pathfinder Atlas Award by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
Sabina Mariella focuses on high-profile civil litigation in federal and state courts. She has tried multiple cases before juries, judges, and arbitrators, with three trials in 2024 alone. Additionally, she has handled significant government enforcement matters. Sabina advocates for crime victims in parallel civil and criminal proceedings and takes on high-profile pro bono matters. Many of the cases that Sabina has been part of have attracted national attention, such as securing settlements from JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank on behalf of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims and winning the nation’s first ruling blocking enforcement of a state’s “trigger ban” after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Jason Hilborn is a trial and appellate litigator whose practice centers on high-stakes commercial and government-related cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has litigated cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Florida Supreme Court, most federal courts of appeal, and federal and state trial courts across the country, including the Delaware Court of Chancery. Before joining the firm, Jason was a Deputy Solicitor General for the State of Florida. He currently serves on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission and as Second Vice Chair of the Business Litigation Committee of the Florida Bar.
Eric Palmer is a litigator with extensive experience in constitutional law, government regulation, antitrust, complex civil litigation, and international disputes. He has briefed cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, argued before federal and state courts throughout the country, and served as lead counsel in regulatory suits against the federal government. Prior to joining Boies Schiller, Eric served as special counsel to a U.S. Senator and as Deputy Attorney General and the Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Alabama. Eric is a former U.S. Supreme Court Law Clerk to Justice Samuel Alito.
Jacopo Mosca assists multinational and family-owned corporations on commercial and corporate matters, with a focus on M&A and private equity work. He also advises private clients and family offices on a diverse range of issues, including generational transfers, asset protection, international tax planning, and governance structures. His experience spans both business and private interests, including work on behalf of clients with national and cross-border operations. Jacopo also is a member of the research and teaching group on mediation and negotiation at the University of Trento.
In addition to the partner promotions, Daniel Crispino (Fort Lauderdale), Valentina Susanna Gava (Milan), Daria Pustilnik (Miami), and Ana Carolina Varela (Fort Lauderdale) were promoted to counsel.
