BSF partner Robin Henry was recently quoted in a New York Law Journal article that reported on the effects of the "subprime crisis" on the number of class actions filed in 2008. The article highlighted a spike in the volume of cases and focused on the connection to the financial industry. "'You are not just seeing a lot of cases, but a lot of cases filed against a small number of financial institutions,'" Ms. Henry told the Law Journal. "This period of securities litigation is unlike earlier periods because although total filings are high, the lawsuits are concentrated in terms of defendants."

D.C. partner, Jonathan Sherman, was quoted in the July 14, 2008, issue of the Legal Times of Washington, in an article regarding the changing dynamic between major law firms and the financial industry. Elite firms, the article reports, historically have stayed away from representing plaintiffs against financial institutions. The recent crisis in the credit markets, however, has begun to change that state of affairs. BSF, Mr. Sherman contends, is placed perfectly -- with its defense-side expertise and plaintiffs'-side experience, to reap the benefits by representing private equity and hedge funds, and even banks themselves, as they seek to recover their losses. .
