Jay’s practice encompasses a wide variety of civil litigation in trial and appellate courts, regulatory proceedings, and arbitral tribunals, with a particular focus on class actions and whistleblower disputes.

Jay has extensive experience handling all facets of civil litigation, including pleadings, document discovery, motions practice, depositions, briefing, and trials. Due to his economics background, Jay often works closely with expert witnesses and is skilled at conveying quantitative analyses to tribunals through written and oral advocacy. Jay also has a particular interest in e-discovery and has led document collection and review efforts for the firm in numerous matters.

Jay’s recent work has focused on the firm’s groundbreaking class action lawsuits against major technology companies, which seek redress for widespread copyright violations related to the development of Generative AI products. Jay is the lead associate on many of these cases.

Jay is a member of the firm’s Associates Committee and is a Summer Associate program coordinator for the Washington D.C. office.

Jay’s recent matters include:

  • Representing authors in class action lawsuits against Meta and OpenAI alleging widespread copyright infringement in connection with their development of Large Language Models
  • Representing a whistleblower in False Claims Act litigation against a regional health system
  • Representing a third-party airline in litigation surrounding JetBlue Airways’ proposed acquisition of Spirit Airlines
