On behalf of SpaceX, partner Hamish Hume sent a letter to the U.S. Treasury Department, asking it to investigate whether Russian officials under U.S. sanctions are profiting from the Russian-made RD-180 engines that United Launch Alliance uses to launch American national-security satellites on Atlas V rockets. “We request that the Office of Foreign Assets Control investigate the concerns and connections raised," Hume wrote.
