Boies Schiller Flexner was named one of the “Legal Lions of the Week” by Law360 after successfully defeating a motion for judgement as a matter of law to uphold a $612.4 million jury verdict against the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.
The original verdict came in 2023 after a decade of litigation when a federal jury found that the August 2012 decision by the FHFA to give the U.S. Treasury 100% of all current and future net worth of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac arbitrarily and unreasonably violated the contractual rights of private shareholders of the companies.
