Thomas regularly advises partnerships, investment funds, established corporations, startup companies, and prominent individuals with respect to their most complicated legal issues and most significant disputes. His litigation and arbitration experience is extensive and varied, and includes high-stakes disputes involving contracts, license agreements, partnership agreements and securities filings. Thomas also has significant experience advising clients in investigations by federal, state and city governmental agencies, and, where necessary, engaging in direct and forthright advocacy for his clients before governmental agencies.
Thomas has substantial experience in the area of interim relief. He has successfully obtained, and defended against, applications for temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, and stays, in state and federal court and at the trial and appellate level.
In addition to litigating matters, Thomas regularly provides strategic advice to clients and advises clients in transactions and settlement negotiations. Thomas has advised multiple clients in connection with pre-litigation settlements worth over $1 billion and several clients in connection with transactions and settlements worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
Thomas has a technical background and is a graduate of Cornell University’s College of Engineering. He excels at mastering the finances, data, and, where necessary, science of the issues facing his clients, and presenting complex issues to tribunals in simple terms.
