On November 23, 2010, a jury in the Northern District of California returned a record-breaking $1.3 billion verdict in favor of Boies, Schiller & Flexner client Oracle against SAP AG, SAP America, and SAP America’s wholly owned subsidiary, TomorrowNow, for copyright infringement of Oracle software. The verdict has been reported as the largest copyright infringement damages award in history by nearly tenfold, and nearly the largest intellectual property verdict of any kind ever. David Boies led the BSF team at trial, with Steve Holtzman, Fred Norton, Kieran Ringgenberg, Beko Richardson, Christina Seki, and Catherine Duong, along with a team from Bingham McCutchen.
