Boies Schiller’s international arbitration practice combines a business-oriented perspective with significant experience in trials, crisis management, economic and damages analysis, and international enforcement proceedings to pursue successful outcomes. We represent clients before all major arbitral institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, AAA, VIAC and NASD, as well as in UNCITRAL and other ad hoc arbitrations.
Jonathan Schiller, co-founder and managing partner of the firm and the head of Boies Schiller’s international arbitration practice, said “international arbitration, both investor-state and private commercial arbitration, has grown enormously in the past decade and has become central to our dispute work around the world. Ben’s substantial experience in international arbitration in regions across the globe will bolster our strong international arbitration group and serve our international clients well. I look forward to working with him.”
In addition to his work as an advocate, Ben teaches investment law and international arbitration at Brooklyn Law School, sits on the Executive Committee of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, and serves on the Peer Review Board of the ICSID Review, among other professional activities. He has been recognized as a highly regarded practitioner for international arbitration by numerous publications and directories, with sources commenting that he is “a rock star in his field” who has “superb advocacy skills” and is “unparalleled in investment law matters.”
“We continue to be opportunistic in terms of adding strategic lateral hires that fit our vision for the future, and Ben is a great complement to our current strengths,” Managing Partner Matthew L. Schwartz said. “We are thrilled he’s joining us to deepen our bench in both New York and Washington, D.C.”
