BSF partner Jim Denvir was named a 2017 Antitrust Trailblazer by The National Law Journal. The publication selected and profiled attorneys “who continue to make their mark in various aspects of legal work in the areas of deal making, restructuring and financing.”
In his profile, Jim discussed his role as lead attorney in U.S. v. AT&T, which led to AT&T selling off its Bell operating telephone companies. “It had an unbelievably large impact on competition and still does,” he said. Looking to the future, Jim said the next area of scrutiny for antitrust regulators will be the control of data. “Data will become a more important asset, and the DOJ will be looking at control of data as a major factor in approving mergers,” he said. “The EU is already starting to.”
