This issue summarizes 2019 data privacy law developments across the world, including the implementation of the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA). Nearly half of the states in the U.S. have now implemented some type of general requirement for businesses engaged in data-based products, and we provide a high-level summary of these states’ current requirements, in addition to various federal developments. This annual review also covers all of the major civil and regulatory actions relating to data breach and misuse, product liability, and directors and officers. We conclude by briefing you on important developments in major geographies all over the world.
