Boies Schiller Flexner UK LLP announced today that experienced international arbitration practitioner Timothy Smyth has joined the London office as counsel.
Smyth has advised investors, sovereign states, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals in international arbitration and public international law disputes. His experience includes representing clients in arbitrations before major arbitral institutions, such as ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, as well as the Iran-US Claims Tribunal.
“This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the fastest growing international arbitration practices in the market,” Smyth said. “Over the last few years, BSF has assembled an impressive roster of complex, high-stakes investment and commercial arbitration mandates, and I look forward to contributing to the group’s continued success.”
With a particular emphasis on investment treaty disputes, Smyth has advised clients from all over the world in a variety of sectors, including mining, energy, banking, hospitality, telecoms, aviation, and pharmaceuticals.
London partner David Hunt said, “Tim’s addition underscores our commitment to expanding and enhancing our international arbitration practice. We have seen a continuous uptick in mandates over the last few years, and Tim will be a valuable contributor to our clients on day one. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
