Valecia is a trial-experienced attorney, with significant experience in complex commercial litigation and white collar investigations. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil matters ranging from contract disputes to international asset recovery in state and federal courts as well as international tribunals.
In 2022 alone, Valecia tried three cases, including taking a significant role in a case in which she represented domestic and foreign plaintiffs in civil litigation to recover assets stolen and laundered in global racketeering conspiracies, resulting in a $218 million jury award in the Southern District of New York. She has counseled companies facing government investigations and has represented clients before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice. She was also part of the team that obtained a $95 million settlement for a class of plaintiffs in a securities fraud class action against an international media company that allegedly paid bribes to FIFA to secure various World Cup rights.
Valecia led a team litigating complex First Amendment rights through state trial and appellate courts in the First Department and contributes a significant amount of her time to the defense of indigent clients, litigating Criminal Justice Act cases. Barred in her home state of Texas, she currently manages a $700 million commercial dispute in the Southern District of Texas.
Before joining BSF, Valecia served as a law clerk to the Hon. Chief Judge Carl E. Stewart in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Prior to law school, she worked as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton.
Valecia currently serves as the Administrator for the 2024 Supreme Court Independent Screening Panel for New York County.
