The legal situation following the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade leaves more questions than answers for employees and corporations in states where the laws are now unclear or rapidly evolving. The Boies Schiller Flexner attorneys who have been litigating in Louisiana since Dobbs was decided are offering CLE presentations on these critical issues to interested clients.
All told, more than half the states in the country restricted or eliminated reproductive health care following the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson. In Louisiana, where the state’s “trigger bans” were immediately effective, a team of Boies Schiller Flexner attorneys developed a creative and successful litigation strategy on an incredibly tight timeframe that defied the odds by blocking Louisiana’s unconstitutionally vague laws in a forum widely considered unwinnable.
In our CLE presentation on “The Post-Roe Legal Landscape,” the BSF attorneys who have been in the trenches on this case – Joanna Wright, Sabina Mariella, and Lindsey Ruff – share their perspectives on how we got here, explain our on-the-ground legal response, and discuss what lies ahead for individuals and corporations in this area and with other privacy-based rights. The discussion will also include a look at the broader applicability for corporations of the type of immediate response BSF deployed in the Louisiana case, including seeking emergency relief and leveraging communications strategies to achieve litigation goals.
